Video: "David Orrin Smith: New Work" Artist's Tour, Part 1 of 2

The introduction to the Artist's Tour of "...New Work" given February 18 and 25, 2025, at the University Unitarian Church

3.3.25 Monday

Greetings - for those of you who came in person to the Artist’s Tours given the 18th and 25th of February - thank you - it was truly my pleasure to speak with you and answer questions about my artwork, process, history, current, and future practice. For everyone who wanted to make it but could not - this video is for you. I have recordings of the complete introduction (shared here) as well as the full talk addressing the specific works, in the next post. All work from the show (except for the pieces already sold) is available, at the top of my available work section of my site, here.

My gratitude cannot be fully expressed in this format to the members and volunteers of the venue (University Unitarian Church) and to everyone else who showed up or was otherwise involved. I thank you all.

The video after the intro will be uploaded soon - including in-depth discussions of each of the 14 works, as well as questions fielded from the audience. If you were there for either the 18th or the 25th, there is footage from each tour included.

Tomorrow begins the next leg of Tour 2025, headed to New Iberia, Louisiana, for Teche Plein Air. I look forward not only to the event, the making of new art, but also a reunion with my friend and masterful artist Justin Donaldson. Justin and I met at Plein Air Easton last July and have been looking forward to painting at the same event again ever since.

I will be back in touch after the event is finished and I have returned to Seattle, on about the 20th of March or so.

Cheers,

-David
